To ensure the translation resonated with local children, Un Tim worked with around 15 Cambodian children, who reviewed draft chapters and offered feedback on terminology.
The term for non-magical people poses a massive challenge. In Khmer, translators had to decide whether to phonetically transliterate the word ( ម៉ាកល / Mug-gel ) or invent a Khmer equivalent that implies "ordinary person devoid of magic."
