If you do not need the full visual IDE interface, you can save massive amounts of disk space by installing only the tools. Method A: Via Terminal (Easiest) Open the Terminal app (found in Applications > Utilities). Type the following command and hit Enter: xcode-select --install Use code with caution.
Once downloaded, double-click the Xcode_10.1.xip file. It will take some time to expand/unzip.
Getting Xcode installed is only half the battle. You need to configure it so Terminal and other tools can find it.
