When you enter a standard license key into Kerio Control, the appliance initiates an outbound connection (typically over HTTPS) to GFI’s licensing servers. It sends a hardware fingerprint and the key; the server responds with a token that authorizes the software features. This connection is often periodic, renewing the lease automatically.
